The Buddy Picker is a playful way to create pairs or groups in your classroom. Instead of simply showing names, students are represented by fun images of monsters or objects. This adds excitement and makes group selection more engaging.

How it works:

  1. Open the tool

    • When you open the Buddy Picker, the settings screen will appear.

  2. Select students

    • Choose a group of students from your student lists.

    • You can select an entire class or subgroups.

  3. Set group size

    • Decide how many students should be in each group by adjusting the number of students per group.

  4. Choose an image type

    • Pick whether you want the cards to display monsters or objects.

  5. Save and start

    • Click Save to begin.

    • The first student is shown at the top of the screen. This student gets to choose a card.

  6. Forming groups

    • Each card hides the name of another student. When a card is chosen, that student is revealed and added to the group.

    • The same student continues choosing cards until the group is complete.

    • When a group is finished, the next student becomes the group leader and starts selecting cards.

    • This continues until all groups are formed.

  7. View groups

    • At any time, you can click Show groups to see the group list.

    • Once all groups are complete, the full list will appear automatically, including the group leaders selected by the tool.

💡Tip: Use the Buddy Picker to make group work feel like a game. Because students don’t know who is hidden behind each card, the tool encourages fairness and keeps the process fun and surprising.
