The Independent Study Timer is designed to help you and your students keep track of time spent on tasks or independent work. With colorful time blocks and flexible settings, it gives students a clear visual cue for how long they should stay focused.

How it works:

  1. Add time

    • Under the clock, you’ll see blocks with different timeframes (in minutes).

    • Click a block or drag it into the clock to add that amount of time.

    • You can combine multiple blocks to build the total time you need.

  2. Start and reset

    • Press the Play button to start the countdown.

    • Use the Reset button to clear the timer and start again.

  3. Settings

    • Open the settings by clicking the gear icon in the bottom-left corner.

    • Here you can adjust how the timer looks and works. The tool remembers your choices for the next time.

    Options include:

    • Sound: Choose a sound to play when time is up (buzzer, guitar, gong, Jingle Bells, and more). You can also turn sound off.

    • Colors: Decide whether each block has a fixed color or if blocks get a random color every time.

    • Time display: Show or hide the total and remaining time under the clock.

💡Tip: The Independent Study Timer is especially useful for chunking work into smaller steps. Try setting shorter blocks for younger students or long assignments, and encourage students to stay on task until the timer runs out. It helps them manage time more independently and stay motivated.
