The Sound Meter measures classroom noise in real-time using your device’s microphone. It gives both visual and audio feedback, making it easier to manage sound levels during group activities, discussions, or quiet work time.
How it works:
Add the tool to your board
A dial will appear that shows noise levels in real-time.
The meter fills up as sound in the room increases.
Set maximum noise level
Use the slider under the dial to choose how much noise is acceptable.
The meter will show when the sound goes above this limit.
Open settings
Click the gear icon to adjust settings.
Options include:
Microphone sensitivity: Adjust to make the tool more or less sensitive to noise.
Select microphone: Choose which microphone your device should use.
Sound feedback: Pick an alert sound (for example: Ding, Bicycle bell, Boing, Shhht, Woof, or Zen gong).
Save your settings
Once set, the tool will automatically give a visual cue and can play a sound when the noise level is too high.
💡Tip: Use the Sound Meter to encourage self-regulation in your classroom. Challenge students to keep the dial in the quiet zone during independent work, or use it to allow lively group discussions while keeping overall noise at a manageable level.
