The Number Bonds tool helps students practice composing numbers in a playful and interactive way. By completing the heart-shaped pairs, students strengthen their understanding of number combinations up to 10, 20, or beyond.

How it works:

  1. Open the Number Bonds tool.

    • A heart will appear with one part filled in.

    • Students drag the missing number into the empty space to complete the bond.

  2. Progress tracking.

    • A bar at the top shows how many problems have been completed.

    • At the end, results are displayed with the number of correct and incorrect answers.

  3. Sound effects.

    • A melody plays for correct and incorrect answers (can be toggled on/off using the speaker icon in the top left).

  4. Settings options.

    • Total: Choose the highest number to compose (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, or 100).

    • Number of answer options: Select how many possible answers students see.

    • Number of problems: Choose 10, 20, or set it to infinite for continuous practice (removes the progress bar).

  5. Restart anytime.

    • Use the Reset button to generate a new set of problems.

💡Tip: Use Number Bonds as a daily warm-up for math. For extra engagement, let students come up to the interactive whiteboard to complete a heart.
