The Fraction Bar helps students explore and understand fractions in a clear and visual way. On the interactive whiteboard, students can fill in parts of a bar to show how fractions make up a whole. They can experiment by adding or removing sections to see fractions in action.

How it works:

  1. Click the + button to add shaded parts to the bar.

  2. Click the - button to remove shaded parts.

  3. The shaded parts represent the numerator (the part), while the total number of segments represents the denominator (the whole).

  4. Invite students to come up to the board and create different fractions by filling in the bar.

Settings:

  1. Select the bar and open Settings.

  2. Choose from 12 different colors to highlight or compare fractions.

  3. Decide whether to keep the bar flexible or lock the number of segments by selecting Lock bar segments (hide +/-).

  4. Click Save when you are ready.

💡Tip: Add more than one fraction bar to the board to compare fractions. For example, students can see how 2/4 is the same as 1/2. This makes it easy to show equivalent fractions side by side.
