The Fraction Circle helps students explore fractions in a visual and hands-on way. On the interactive whiteboard, students can shade parts of a circle to see how fractions make up a whole. This tool makes it easy for them to compare and understand fractions step by step.
How it works:
Click the + button to shade more parts of the circle.
Click the - button to remove shaded parts.
The shaded parts represent the numerator (the part), while the total number of circle segments represents the denominator (the whole).
Students can tap the circle themselves to create different fractions and practice identifying them.
Settings:
Select the circle and open Settings.
Choose from 12 different colors to highlight or compare fractions.
Use Lock circle segments (hide +/-) if you want to keep the circle fixed with a set number of parts.
Click Save when you are finished adjusting the settings.
💡Tip: Add more than one fraction circle to the board to compare fractions in different ways. For example, students can see how 3/6 is the same as 1/2. This makes it easy to show and discuss equivalent fractions during your lesson.
