The Ruler tool lets you and your students practice measuring directly on the interactive whiteboard. You can enlarge, rotate, and move the ruler to demonstrate how to measure in real time. This helps students build confidence when learning how to read a ruler and understand the difference between measuring in inches and centimeters.

How it works:

  1. Place the ruler anywhere on the board by clicking and dragging.

  2. Rotate the ruler by using the rotation button.

  3. Resize the ruler to fit your activity.

  4. Draw against the ruler to create a straight line on the board.

  5. Use it to demonstrate measuring, or invite students to the board to practice themselves.

Settings:

  1. Open Settings by clicking the gear icon.

  2. Choose the unit of measurement: centimeters or inches.

  3. Decide whether you want the ruler to be transparent or opaque.

  4. Click Save when you are ready.

💡Tip: Show students how to both measure and draw with the ruler. For example, let them draw a 6 cm line directly against the tool. This way, they connect the skill of measuring with creating accurate shapes.
