The Base 10 Blocks tool helps students understand place value and number building in a clear, visual way. By dragging blocks into the chart, students can practice counting, grouping, and solving addition problems.
How it works:
Open the tool and choose the type of manipulatives: blocks or eggs.
Select which place values you want to use: ones, tens, hundreds, or thousands.
Drag the blocks or eggs into the place value chart or window.
Click Calculate to automatically reveal the total value of the blocks.
Click Generate to let the tool place random blocks into the chart for practice.
Use Reset to clear the window and start again.
Settings:
Manipulative: Choose between blocks or eggs.
Manipulative place value: Pick ones (1), tens (10), hundreds (100), or thousands (1000).
Place value chart: Show the place value chart for structured learning, or hide it for free exploration.
💡Tip: Use the tool to connect abstract numbers to concrete representations. For example, when solving 243 + 56, let students build each number with blocks, then regroup and count together to find the sum.
