The Counting Money tool helps students practice recognizing, adding, and organizing money. By dragging coins and bills onto the board, students can build amounts of money and then check their answers. This makes it perfect for learning to count, compare, and calculate with money in a visual way.
How it works:
Drag coins or bills from the bottom of the tool into the rectangle at the top.
Arrange and move them around as needed.
Click Calculate to show the total value of the money in the rectangle (displayed in the bottom right).
Use Generate to display a random set of coins and bills based on your settings.
Remove money by dragging items out of the rectangle one at a time, or press Reset to clear everything at once.
Settings:
Click the gear icon to adjust the tool:
Currency: Choose from US Dollars, Canadian Dollars, Mexican Pesos, Euros, British Pounds and more.
Maximum generated value: Set the highest total value that can appear when using the Generate function.
Arrangement: Select “Order generated money by value” to sort automatically, or leave unchecked for a random layout.
Choose money values: Decide which coins or bills to include, for example only coins or only certain denominations.
💡Tip: Give students real-life practice by creating “shopping problems.” For example, write prices for classroom items and ask students to drag the correct amount of money into the rectangle. Then use Calculate to check if their payment is correct.
