The Reading Comprehension Generator helps you create a reading text in just a few clicks, complete with comprehension questions. You choose the subject, the text type, the age of your students and the difficulty level, and the tool generates a text that fits your lesson.
How it works:
1. Generate a text
Open the tool from the toolbar or the library.
Enter a subject (required), for example "New day in school".
Choose the text type: a story or an informative text.
Select the age of your students and the level (easy, medium or hard). Easy texts use short, simple sentences; harder texts are longer, with more complex sentences and richer vocabulary.
Optional: add an explanation to your subject to steer the text, for example specific information or words you want to see included.
Click Generate your text.
2. Use the text
The generated text appears on the board, so you can read and discuss it with the whole class right away. Use the + and − buttons to adjust the font size.
Click Edit to change the text yourself, generate a new version, or go back to the form to adjust your input.
Click Print to print the text for your students.
3. Generate questions
Click Generate worksheet to create comprehension questions for the text. By default, 10 questions are generated, grouped into before, during and after reading.
Click a question to edit the question text or the answer, or change the question type (multiple choice or open question).
Drag questions to reorder them, or copy and delete them using the icons next to each question.
Use Generate questions to add more AI-generated questions, or Add question to write your own.
4. Save and print
Click Save to store the text and questions.
Click Print to print the worksheet for your students.
💡Tip: Use the explanation field to combine reading comprehension with other goals. For example, ask for a text that uses this week's spelling pattern or new vocabulary words, request an adjective in every sentence to practice word types, or have signal words such as "because", "so" and "for example" shown in bold. You can also paste your own text via Edit and generate questions for it.
ℹ️ Please note: the texts and questions are generated with artificial intelligence (AI), which may lead to errors or inappropriate content. Always review the generated content before using it in class.
